My two sons...
June 24th, 2008 2:48 PM
My two sons.  This is what it is all about!  I love these two boys.  John Paul and his brother Christian James.  I'm still waiting for them to get into trouble!  Can you imagine that?  They have been model kids and for that I'm truly bless.  My wife would say the same.  Now, all I need is for them to make millions and then their mother and I can retire...of course, we would get 10 percent!

On choosing a highschool for boys
June 28th, 2008 3:41 PM

It's expensive, but what private school isn't!  Saint Anslem Abbey in Northeast Washington, DC is a fantastic school for boys.  Actually you can start there in the 6th grade.

I promise you, your student will get in the top schools.  The classes are small and the teachers are brilliant.  You can find the school on the web.

Do you have to be Catholic to attend?  No.  If you send your son to school at Saint Anslem, let me know.

Short sales, foreclosures and the appraiser
June 28th, 2008 2:44 PM
No one said it would be easy.  Underwriters want active listings, market statistics showing the declining market...sales that reflect 90 days or less!  And you come with a contract that reflects prices of 2007!  Not going to work.  There is no way to come anyways close to last years sale prices.

On playing an instrument
June 17th, 2008 12:56 PM

I am so ever grateful for my parent's encouragement to persue music.  Many years have past since my school days and music is very much a part of my life.

Growing up in a small Village .... yes, our town was not a city, but a village.  The name of the town?  The Village of Alpha.  We had a school, a post office, a small grocery store and a local bar that was called, The Villiage Inn.  My father was one of the favorite patrons and so I got to spend time in a bar at an early age.  Perhaps that is why I don't drink.  Well, that isn't exactly correct...I do have a drink now and then...I guess I will have had about five to seven drinks in a one year time frame.  That would be one beer, two glasses of wine, a gin and tonic and a few odds and ends!

Back to music.  I started on the trumpet and still play to this day.  I play at our Church on Saturday evening.  Along the way I learned to play the keyboard, a xaphnoon, a pennywhistle, and a few other instruments.  I love to play jazz and I'm really just learning.  I love music theory, too.

If you have kids, encourage them to play even if they fight it.  I believe it is one of the best things you can do for your children.

In my next blog, I will give you the formula for living on less than $1,000 per day and I mean a day!

Foreclosures and Short Sales
June 17th, 2008 12:33 PM

My goodness...when will it end.  So many people losing their homes.  We can play the blame game, but it won't help.  You lost lots of equity...perhaps you know someone who lost their homes.

Lots of my work is foreclosures and short sales.  I don't like it, but someone has to do it.  If you or someone you know needs to see and wants to know what they can reasonable expect...do call or email me.

As an added bonus...I know I can sell a home in one day!  It will sell where the market is.  If that interest you, let me know.  Call 703-425-2581 or email me at alexa@mris.com or alexa@appraisalvirginia.com.  I actually prefer the first email.
